Our Story
The Metro Group is a real estate development team commited to keeping people rooted in the places they call home.
Founded in 1958 by Saul Muchnick, The Metro Group specializes in developing high-quality workforce housing and mixed-use communities. We manage every stage of the development process: taking projects from raw land through obtaining necessary approvals and permits, securing and structuring financing, and continuing to oversee development until residents move into their homes. We take pride in ensuring that each of our developments enhance local neighborhoods and support community needs, while also adhering to strict quality standards and remaining affordable for residents. We are currently focused on developing multi-family communities throughout New York State, with a commitment to helping people stay rooted and thrive in the areas they call home.
Our developments have received national recognition and praise. In 1986, The Metro Group was awarded the “Gold Archi – Best Residence of the Year” award by the American Institute of Architects (Long Island Chapter). Additionally, we have been recognized by The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for our work in shoreline restoration and wetlands mitigation in waterfront developments, which was highlighted in the National Building Museum in Washington D.C.
